Brian Blood
Monterey Artist Brian
Blood has been creating artwork for the past 25 years. First working as
a Layout and Design Artist for local advertising agencies and newspapers
in his hometown of Boston, MA, later operating his own publishing
company, then becoming a successful Illustrator and graphic artist. But
it just wasn’t quite enough. Relocating to San Francisco and teaching
for more than a decade in the Fine Art Department at the Academy of Art
University was an exciting experience. All his earlier experiences
had provided him the confidence and opportunity to focus solely on Fine
Art and Brian’s work has been aggressively collected ever since. Now
retired from teaching at his almamater, Brian enjoys
conducting his own Plein Air Painting workshops in and around beautiful
Central California.
Frequently
painting outdoors, creating small studies of his subjects and shooting
photo reference is only a small portion of his creative process. In his
studio Brian will compose his larger, more ambitious gallery works from
these reference materials, allowing his trained eye to survey and
incorporate the balance needed for a successful painting.
